The story of the D.E.C. School Thankorosidia Old Students Association (DECTOSA) is rooted in a shared beginning and a collective responsibility. It begins with the founding of D.E.C. School Thankorosidia on Monday, September 4, 1972, a moment that marked a turning point in the educational history of Thankorosidia and surrounding communities.
D.E.C. School Thankorosidia was established through the combined efforts of town elders, community leaders, and the District Education Committee (D.E.C.), in consultation with education authorities in Kabala and the Ministry of Education. From its first day, the school welcomed pupils from Thankorosidia and neighboring towns, bringing together children of different families and backgrounds under one roof, united by the promise of education.
For many of us, this school was more than a place of learning. It was where discipline was shaped, character was built, and lifelong relationships were formed. From its humble beginnings as a village school, D.E.C. School Thankorosidia went on to inspire generations of pupils who today serve as professionals, community leaders, and contributors to national and international development, both at home and in the diaspora.
DECTOSA was formed to preserve this history, honor those who laid the foundation, and strengthen the bond among former pupils. The Association exists to reconnect old students across generations, document and protect the school’s legacy, and support initiatives that contribute to the continued growth of education and community development in Thankorosidia.
Our story is one of unity, gratitude, and continuity. It is a reminder that where we are today is deeply connected to where we began. As we honour our roots, we commit ourselves to building a stronger future for the school and for generations yet to come.
